Moulder and Shaper Heads

Template Services, Inc. offers a full line of standard straight bore moulder and shaper heads! Cutter heads are precisely machined with CNC machinery from High Strength Steel and designed to run at speeds up to 9,000 RPM. Heads are manufactured to exceed the toughest European OEM standards and to produce a smooth finish with years of reliable and hassle free performance. Most standard heads can be shipped out from stock, less common and custom heads can be manufactured in 2-3 weeks.
Hook-Angle

Choosing the correct hook is an important part of the head buying process. Many customer will purchase a 4 slot head with 2 slots at one angle ( for hardwoods )and the other two at a different angle  ( for softwoods ). This is called a dual hook head and can provide great flexibility. When purchasing a head it is advisable to talk to our professional staff to obtain to best choice for you application. Please call for a quote on knife slot and hook configurations that are different from the dual hook heads quoted on our site.

20 degree hook: This is a common angle to run soft woods and hardwoods that are non-problematic to machine. A steeper hook angle will keep an edge on the knife longer with less horsepower needed for a deep cut. However this angle can be more prone to create tear-outs in the finish.

12 degree hook: This is very common angle for running hardwoods that tend to tear out. It is also the best choice for running on side heads for most runs.

By far the most common heads we sell are 12 & 20 dual hook heads. Running 20 on the top pattern head and 12 on the side heads to reduce tear out.
